We are seeking a strong candidate for the position of Electrical Engineer.
- The successful candidate will use a strong fundamental knowledge of engineering management principles to successfully lead small and large scale projects in both mechanical and electrical arenas.
- The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Engineering team and must be committed to excellence in everything we do with the departments on safety, quality, and capital improvements projects.
The Electrical Engineer will work with the production and maintenance teams in the selection, installation, maintenance, operation, and upgrade of mill equipment including automation systems, MCC’s, and High Voltage Power Distribution (transformers, reactors and SVC’s). The Electrical Engineer will provide division-wide technical expertise, assist with long term capital planning, provide project leadership from negotiation through commissioning, collaboratively manage standards and best practices, and aid all areas as needed on operational issues.
Primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
- Engineering Knowledge- Solid understanding and practical application of civil, structural, and mechanical engineering principals
- Communication Skills – The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work – Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team
- Leadership Presence – Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating, and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
- Attention to Detail – Thorough in accomplishing tasks, no matter how small they may be, and taking care to make sure that expectations are met.
- Computers and Electronics – Knowledge of computers, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including (Microsoft office, AutoCAD, Inventor, etc…)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10 years experience as a Electrical Engineer in an industrial environment and emphasis on project engineering and project management
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar drawing/modeling software
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ Years of experience in leading cross functional projects, including electrical and civil engineering, in an industrial environment
- Melting, casting, or long product rolling experience
- Experience with Industrial Projects and Processes
- Experience with various PLC Types and HMI Software
- Experience with performing studies and analysis on Electrical Systems
- Knowledge of EAF power regulation
- Equipment upgrade, installation, and commissioning experience
- Prior leadership experience and contractor management
- Willingness to relocate for future advancement opportunities
