Job Title: Product Engineer

 

Location: Fresno, CA

 

The Product Engineer is responsible for the engineering design of the company’s products including drawings, bill of materials, technical documentation, performance curves, procedures, and technical support.

 

The Product Engineer supports unique customer order requirements by developing drawings, calculations, curves, bill of materials, manuals, work instructions, and provides technical support required for customer orders.

 

• Develop and maintain the engineering design of products including manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, general arrangement drawings, bill of materials, operation & maintenance manuals, performance curves, procedures, and instructions
• Coordinate design activities involving design centers in different physical locations, including international   locations
• Complete engineering work required on customer orders including drawings, calculations, bill of materials, technical documentation, test curves and technical support.
• Develop designs and product structures for new pump models and product lines
• Support the Project Engineer & Application Engineering teams in executing customer order schedules, provide technical support and assist in ensuring orders are complete and accurate before being released to production
•  Provide technical support for manufacturing, assembly, testing, purchasing, planning, quality, sales, and   aftermarket service.
•  Support the introduction of new product designs into production including prototypes, first article inspections,   first article assemblies, and resolving design and production issues
•  Support field service in diagnosing and correcting field issues
•  Develop and maintain technical instructions, procedures, specifications, and manuals
•  Create and maintain accurate item master and bill of materials in the ERP system
•  Complete all engineering activities associated with the required engineering change process, non-conformance   process, and warranty/customer complaint process.
• Maintain product performance curves, create curves for customer order tests and provide technical test lab support
• Work with supply chain team to develop global supplier capabilities for all products.
•  Reduce product cost and increase value using continuous design improvements and VA/VE activities involving cross functional teams

• Read, write, and speak English effectively.  Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, prepare Production Releases consisting of project outline drawings, job specific drawings, schematics, performance curves, engineering bill of materials, test requirements, and other technical documentation as necessary. Deliver on time and with minimal errors and omissions
• Must be self-motivated and customer oriented, have excellent problem solving and communication skills.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Work Experience: Greater than 3 years preferred
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certificate / P.E. license desired
• Expert understanding of general engineering principles and their application
• Strong working knowledge of CAD / PLM / CAE systems. Desired experience with: Creo, Windchill, AutoCAD, Solidworks, and Solidworks PDM tools
• Working Knowledge of ERP systems
• Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, technical solutions, and engineering design
• Experience with centrifugal pumps and pump systems is preferred.

 

Language:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.  Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

 

Computer Skills:

The incumbent should have a broad knowledge of general computer skills and engineering software.

 

Physical Requirements:

Sit, walk, and stand for eight or more hours. Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs

 

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs
