Description :
This is a Temporary to Hire Job. (If everything works out and performance meets company’s requirements, there is an opportunity to become a Full-Time Employee of the Company.)
Responsible for the production of machined parts including API connections by setting up, and operating a manual or CNC lathe, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Machinists are expected to adhere to all safety and quality policies of the company.
Education:
- GED or High School Diploma preferred
Experience:
- 5+ year of machining experience preferred
- Mazak Machine Experience
- Threaded connection experience (specifically rotary shoulder and API as well as premium threads.)
- Familiarity of API threads
- Previous QC inspection and tool measurement experience preferred
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate on technical issues.
- Ability to record tool specifications for quality and performance purposes
- Must be able to read and interpret ADVANCED charts, drawings and blueprints
- Must be able to read, interpret and follow ADVANCED work instructions
- Proactive coordination with coworkers and supervisors to maintain peak productivity
- Ability to handle higher productivity levels with more detailed repair projects
- Works independently using best judgment with minimum supervision
- Familiar with ALL machines in shop as well as multiple materials and applications used
Key Responsibilities/ Essential Functions of the Position:
- Coordinate workload demands and priorities for the shop
- Crane operations, lifting, holding and indicate parts
- Operate machine tools such as lathes to produce metal parts.
- Check and review accuracy of work against written blueprints and specifications
- Calculate where to cut and bore
- Determine how much material to remove
- Monitor and control feed rate and speed
- Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations
- Ensure work piece is properly lubricated and/or cooled
- Replacement of dull cutting tools
- General clean up and maintenance of work area
- Makes minor mechanical adjustments to equipment and assist maintenance manager with any major equipment repairs
- Other duties as assigned
