Job Title: Geologist
Location: Midland, Tx
- Must reside in commutable distance of Midland, Tx. (This is an Onsite role, Remote & Hybrid work is not available.)
- Some travel may be required
Excellent opportunity to grow with a leading exploration and production company. The incumbent Geologist will be responsible for generating ideas to grow the region through technical analyses. Actively involved with the planning and implementation of our horizontal exploration and development plans. Works closely with other Geoscientists, Geosteering Specialists, Engineers, Drillers and field staff to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the well plans to optimize the success of the company’s drilling programs.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform regional geological risk and resource analyses across a variety of play types
- Integrate geologic, geophysical, petrophysical, and production data to identify opportunities
- Map and communicate resource potential through appropriate geologic products
- Work closely with reservoir engineers to assess economics of prospects
- Help to plan wells and guide geosteering staff on proper well placement
- Works well in a team environment but can also work independently with minimal supervision
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Power Point
- Experience in unconventional resource plays, with Delaware Basin experience preferred
- Proficiency in Mapping Software packages, such as Petra, Geographix, and/or SMT Kingdom
- Proficient with well logs and petrophysics
- Experienced in creating standard geological work products
- Must be a collaborative team player
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics or related field required
- Master’s degree in geology or geophysics highly preferred
- 7+ years of upstream oil and gas industry work experience required
10% – 15% Travel will be required for mandatory meetings, training and visits to field locations.
