Job Title: Inventory Manager

Job Location: Osceola, Iowa

  • Must reside in commutable distance of Osceola, IA. (This is an Onsite role.)

Prior experience in Industrial Manufacturing Operations (Vessel, Tanks, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Valves, Mechanical Equipment, etc. background is preferred)

Working in an Assembly and Machining Environment (CNC & Manual), Fabrication (Welding, Metal Cutting, Metal Forming) experience preferred.

Job Summary:

The Inventory Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory of all incoming, outgoing and in stock products and supplies in support of operations. This position will interface heavily with purchasing, planning and manufacturing to maximize receiving efficiencies and inventory accuracy. Additionally, you will be responsible for hiring, training and mentoring inventory staff to ensure they follow safety protocols and use technology appropriately.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for coaching, teaching, and supervision of assigned personnel.
  • Responsible for effective employee relations. Initiates and is proactive with employee coaching and development. Resolves employee issues through identifying problems and resolutions.
  • Provide on-site leadership for team by building and motivating team members to meet goals.
  • Responsible for the performance management (hiring, development, discipline, termination) of direct reports while collaborating with Human Resources.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, inventory of all standard stock items used in support of DFE operations.
  • Maintain and enforce all processes related to items coming into and out of inventory.
  • Investigate and resolve inconsistencies with inventory.
  • Minimize inventory loss by incorporating best supply chain practices.
  • Make recommendations to leadership about improvements in inventory life cycle.
  • Review inventory frequently to minimize unnecessary or slow-moving inventory.
  • Assist with inventory management including inventory adjustments, cycle counting, and other inventory related tasks as necessary to ensure inventory is aligned and avoid large variances.
  • Develop inventory staff schedule.
  • Ensure a safe working environment.
  • Expedite and prioritize manufacturing work orders related to stocked items and work with planning to alter schedules to adjust to unforeseen conditions.
  • Facilitate appropriate changes to existing work orders (lists of required materials, engineering changes, and material substitutions).
  • Actively seek out opportunities for process improvement.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly production meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to open book management.
  • Perform other related duties, as needed and assigned, including backup for other department personnel, to ensure support of the production plan.
  • Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position. This position is not eligible to work from home.

  • Possess a working knowledge of master scheduling of a finished product with multiple levels of processes required to reach the finished stage.
  • Possess a working knowledge of engineering prints and manufacturing capacity to effectively determine need dates for components.
  • Knowledge of the master data that drives forecasting, planning, scheduling, and shipping within an ERP system.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Materials Management or similar discipline (business, manufacturing systems, engineering supply chain management) preferred but not required.
  • Two – Five years’ experience in inventory management, manufacturing planning and supervision.
