Job Title: Operations Manager / Production Manager

Location: Pella, IA (Relocation Assistance Available)

  • Must reside in commutable distance of Pella, IA. (This is an onsite role, Remote & Hybrid work is not available.)
  • Ideally open to future relocation to other Pella Sites to climb into Sr. OPS roles
  • Some travel may be required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages 3 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 100 employees in the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.

The Operations Manager, internally referred to as Production Manager, is responsible for all manufacturing activities in the assigned plant(s) and is responsible for supporting objectives, programs and policies established in each plant. As an Operations Manager you must have a strong passion and drive to develop the people around you to perform at their peak potential. The Operations Manager will work closely with the plant manager and perform special assigned tasks which contribute to the production of high-quality products at the best possible cost, on a timely basis, in a safe fashion, and with management techniques consistent with corporate philosophy.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position.
  • Responsible for safety, quality and productivity of the assigned team and plant(s) on assigned shift.
  • Responsible for development and administration of onboarding Department Managers. Department managerial training should focus on personnel policy, coaching and counseling skills, continuous improvement techniques and other pertinent subjects.
  • Responsible for supporting the programs and policies established in each plant. Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures which support the following: Customer Satisfaction, Quality, Cost Reduction, Customer Service, Waste Reduction and Material Yield.
  • Responsible for identifying ways to maximize material yield for the plant and company.
  • Assists in annual plant budgeting and strategic planning to drive cost productivity.
  • Assists in achieving plant performance objectives pertaining to manufacturing costs.
  • Works with the plant manager and the continuous improvement manager to identify projects and teams that support continuous improvement objectives.
  • Assists plant manager in department manager selection through participation in the interviewing process. Serves as a mentor to successfully chosen department manager. Evaluates performance and implements development plans for subordinate department managers

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or four years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Professional Experience

  • 4 years of progressively increasing responsibilities in Production and Manufacturing Management.
  • Superior management capability to lead, motivate and develop production and manufacturing employees.
