Job Summary:

The Director of Quality drives quality assurance objectives and responsibilities along with technical inspection control operations for the company to achieve goals that relate to customer service plans and targets.

The Quality Director performs and oversees activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of our quality assurance/quality control departmental standards and commercial quality standards for processing materials into finished products. When manufacturing or customer concerns arise, the Quality Director analyses the problem and recommends corrective action and solutions for continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Develop and Maintain Quality Assurance programs and Quality Management System (QMS).
• Monitor Production Department’s conformance with QA standards and procedures.
• Conduct quality control training for employees engaged in material handling or product assembly.
• Suggest methods for improving product quality or design, or manufacturing processes
• Plan and directs the work of Quality control inspectors and Quality assurance specialists.
• Review and resolve all warranty claims on company products. Analyze equipment failures or deficiencies to determine cause and establish responsibility
• Develop and implement a structure for warranty claims to include, review, trouble shooting and repair of equipment under warranty (both in and out of the facility)
• Manage the Quality Team in data collection and analysis for material scrap and supplier performance, manufacturing yield and rework, and field failure
• Interface with Sales, Engineering and Production Staff to resolve chronic problems and to advise on potential problems
• Provide assistance to Marketing and Product Engineering in the utilization of product performance experience in the field
• Organize and maintain Quality departments’ records
• Interpret regulations and standards (ISO); define & evaluate problems, collect data, draw conclusions, write reports and implement corrective actions as required
• Identify gaps in Quality Control and Field Service procedures that describe ISO required processes and standards
• Manage multiple projects, assign and manage work activities, meet deadlines with management reporting
• Identify risk conditions and communicate issues and resolutions to management team.
• Cooperate and Collaborate with Human Resources Department in all employee relations matters in accordance with policies and programs of the Company
• Direct, assist and train direct reports by setting performance expectations, assigning work, establishing priorities, appraising performance and making recommendations on wage and salary administration
• Make decisions/recommendations on new hires, transfers, discipline, promotions and terminations relating to direct reports
• Observe all safety and ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 requirements
• Ensure that all employees are familiar with and follow all ISO 9001 and 14001 procedures and appropriate documentation
• Oversee internal audits and participate in external

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or other technical degree preferred or equivalent industry experience.
• 5 years of relevant Quality Management experience, with emphasis in manufacturing.
• 5 years in Quality Assurance & Control workflow process and/or experience in related field

• Working knowledge of Codes and standards (e.g. ASME Sections II & III, SNT-TC-1A, ISO 9001:2015, etc.)
• Understanding of Manufacturing processes (machining, NDE, materials, testing, and welding).
• Experience with design, implementation, and support of knowledge management for collaborative information sharing (preferred)
• Experience producing and delivering communications to the management team and summarizing results and producing management reports
• Excellent oral and written persuasive communication and presentation skills
• Proven track record of progressive accomplishment and growing a business
• Skilled in use of Power Point and Microsoft Office Professional
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications
