Job Title: Sr. Accountant

Location: Cuba, MO

Must reside in commutable distance of Cuba, MO. (This is an Onsite position, Remote & Hybrid work is not available.)

Experience working within Healthcare or Pharmaceutical Industry is preferred, but not required.

The company is pursuing it’s IPO and will require knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance.

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

The current Finance Director is transitioning into the CFO role in the organization, and the Sr. Accountant Candidate will start a progression toward leading the department and taking all the key tasks of the outgoing Finance Director such as the P&L (final prep, analysis, and Board packet production), with intention of a qualified candidate being identified to eventually move into the vacant Finance Director’s role.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
• Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger.
• P&L data gathering and financials generation
• Financials analysis
• Budgeting and Forecasting data gathering & process support ideal
• Solid skills in month end close, account reconciliation, GL transactions, etc.
• Handle special projects such as: new tax and or financial regulation research and briefing to CFO on possible impacts to Accounting and Finance Department

Required Skills/Abilities:

• MS Excel is a big toolbox for this Candidate – definitely Formulas and Pivot Tables; Macros preferrable
• Candidate will likely elevate to Lead the Dept…that includes 2-3 Specialist or Staff ACCT (maybe non degreed) personnel focusing in A/P, A/R, Payroll, & Internal Audit
• Company has 150 total employees; $65M Revenue
• Role focused on Financial Accounting and Analysis, not Cost Accounting
• Would love someone who has some experience suggesting and helping implement Accounting Department process improvements
• Reconciliations – G&A, INV, Assets, all types of accounts
• Balance Sheet management
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to SOX (Sarbanes Oxley).
• Highly proficient with accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
• 3 or more years of accounting experience required.
