Job Title: Sr. Cost Accountant

Location: Robinsonville, MS

  • Must reside in commutable Area. (This is an onsite role, Remote is not available.)
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder. (Sponsorship not currently provided)

Summary

The Senior Cost Accountant applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

Previous experience in manufacturing standard cost environment required.

Essential Functions

  • Weekly reports regarding cost center level spending, inventory activity, and absorption/consumption.
  • Work with highly automated financial (Excel) models to quickly consolidate transaction level information.
  • Extract and manipulate large data sets from SAP to answer questions, solve problems, and support weekly reporting.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings.
  • Analyzes financial information to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Prepare and present detailed schedules regarding inventory and other balance sheet balances to upper management.
  • Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions within designated limits.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Installs, modifies, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
  • Consolidates and calculates inventory balances from subledgers, including obsolescence or LCM (lower of cost/market) reserves when applicable.
  • Collects appropriate data regarding federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Complete reconciliation of inventory subledger accounts.
  • Provide data regarding Sales Tax & PP&E Tax reports.
  • Monitor and manage inventory and WIP accounting process.
  • Writes and modifies cost/accounting related reports in Power BI.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Must understand and follow company procedures as it pertains to Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Power BI preferred.
  • Experience in SAP highly preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required, including weekends and holidays
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • 5 plus years of in-depth knowledge of statutory accounting principles
  • Previous experience in manufacturing standard cost environment required.

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, especially proficient in Excel.
  • Oracle ERP, SAS, or SQL experience a bonus.
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend time in the manufacturing environment learning processes.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion, required.
  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve
  • complex problems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of procedural controls and data validation techniques required.
